Sometimes the best part of Italy isn’t the place you planned to visit… it’s the one you almost drove past. Last year, while driving through Tuscany, I almost skipped a tiny hilltop village called Montefioralle. It wasn’t famous. There weren’t crowds lining the streets or tour buses filling the parking lot. In fact, if you blink while driving through Greve in Chianti, you could easily miss the turn. I almost did. Something told me to stop. So I parked the car and wandered through the quiet stone streets. There wasn’t a checklist of famous sights waiting for me. No long lines. No rush. Just flower-filled alleyways, weathered stone buildings, breathtaking vineyard views, and the kind of silence that’s becoming harder and harder to find. As I stood overlooking the Chianti countryside with a glass of local wine in my hand, I remember thinking… Why isn’t everyone coming here? Then it hit me. Maybe they were too busy trying to see everything else. The Biggest Mistake I See Travelers MakeAfter helping travelers plan Italy vacations, I’ve noticed something. Most people don’t underestimate how much there is to see… They overestimate how much they can truly experience. Every extra hotel means another morning packing luggage. Every extra destination means another train, another drive, another check-in. And every hour spent rushing to the next place is an hour you’re not sitting in a piazza, enjoying a long lunch, or discovering the little moments that make Italy unforgettable. The memories that stay with you usually aren’t the famous landmarks. They’re the unexpected conversations. The hidden cafés. The quiet villages. The sunset you never planned for.
