UK Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)
Traveling through the United Kingdom?
If your connection remains airside and you do not pass through UK border control, you generally do not need a UK Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). However, if your itinerary requires you to enter the UK—for example, to collect baggage, change airports, stay overnight, or because of a flight disruption—you may need a UK ETA. Requirements can change, so I recommend checking the official UK Government website before you travel.

Dan’s Tip: If you travel through the UK regularly, you may decide it’s worth applying for an ETA anyway. It’s valid for multiple trips over two years (or until your passport expires), so some travelers like having it in place in case an unexpected itinerary change requires them to pass through UK border control.
